Fireworks in the Tetons

Fireworks under the moon, July 4, 2014

Last night, I took a group of students south of Blacktail Butte to watch the fireworks. While we waited for the sun to go down, I taught a lesson on the physics and chemistry behind fireworks. As the fireworks were exploding, we called out the elements responsible for creating the different colors.

From our spot in the sagebrush flats, we were able to see the fireworks in town and at the resort.

After the firework shows ended, we took a few long exposure pictures while dancing with headlamps in front of the Tetons.
