My mind is drawn to patterns and repetition. The beauty of nature’s repetition is that no two things are perfectly alike, although they may appear to be on first sight. I find myself drawn to the nuances, the fine details that separate one leaf from another.
The process of taking a print from an object in nature helps me see and appreciate the small deviations between similar subjects. Through printmaking, I am able to step outside of my own preconceived notions about the essence of things, and I am left with a richer sense of my surroundings.
